I declare days like these past few must happen to us all at some point. Too many irons in the fire!! I'd love to know where that statement came from. I heard my Mother say it often enough when 15 different things was claiming her attention at once.
Then there is the one that says, "He has too much on his plate". That could mean "her" as well, nonetheless, whether He or Her is trying to do too many things at once mean something is not getting much attention. And there has to be a wise person somewhere who would declare, "That ain't wise!"
Why do we shuffle so much in a day. I know I know - we deal with life as it comes and often times, there are many things that claim our attention in a day and there is no way around it. Having more hours in a day is not going to happen, and by trying to handle everyone's problems along with my own makes me an old woman.
That said, I will quickly add I have not been trying to handle ANYONE'S problems. I'm sorry. I may be considered a poor sport, or an out of touch friend, but bear with me. If you need my help, I'll get there as soon a possible. I really will.
My husband called a couple week ago, on the 10th. He had been called to work, and gladly went for he only makes one post office run each week and this would have been extra. He was almost in tears, as he told me what happened. He had lost balance in trying to get the truck ramp in place to start loading mail, when his hand slipped off the pully/chain and he fell backward onto the concrete, tried to catch himself with his right hand and broke his arm in three places.
Got a feeling this will keep him around the house the rest of the year. That is OK, even though I've lost my dishwasher!!! I'll manage. Hense the first few lines of being as busy as a one arm paper hanger (no pun intended). He is helpless as the broken arm is his right and he is right handed. We've managed in the bath area, eating with the wrong hand is difficult, cannot open a bottle of anything, get dressed, shave, whatever you name to add to this list - consider it something that needs my help.
I'm not complaining, for he has been my right arm in more ways than one. It is one of those times I'm glad (if it had to happen) it happened when we are both retired and home anyway.
Anyway, we will be going to surgery this morning with prayers that everything goes and healing will have a chance.
